Be an Angel and Interact with Urban Art!

There is a lot of urban art around Puerto Rico these days, which I think brightens everyone’s spirits. Now, in Barceloneta, there is a wall of wings, where you can be photographed as an angel. It is so colorful and wonderful! It was a must stop for us on a recent visit along the north coast.

The project, called El Paseo de las Alas (The Walk of the Wings), was painted by a young artist named Angélica Noelia. These murals are located on one of the walls around the José I. Machado municipal stadium in the town of Barceloneta (which is at about the midpoint of the north coast of the island, about 1 hour from San Juan).

Walk of Wings

So far, she has created 6 beautiful sets of wings, designed so that a person (or animal!) can stand in front of them and be photographed as angels. They are really beautiful and colorful, and I love the concept that you can become the art!

There are 2 small sets, say kid or dog size, and the rest are larger for adults. The largest one is called Las Boricanas, which is designed to represent the Puerto Rico flag.

I look forward to seeing more wings as they are painted. If you are in the area, definitely stop by and become an angel. Guaranteed to make you smile!
