Unusual Findings – Poza de los Peluches
Tucked away on a small road in Las Marias, Poza de los Peluches is a little gem, waiting to be discovered by adventurous souls willing to pass through the gates. The entrance is lined with stuffed animals (peluches in Spanish), which some people find creepy, but there is an enchanting natural pool and some little waterfalls down below for those willing to venture off the beaten path.
This little river pool is easy to find, it is just a minute off the main road PR 119. Someone maintains the area very nicely, decorating it with stuffed animals and other kids toys. They have made make-shift stairs of blocks going down, and even have a hand rail.
Some people say it is creepy, but I thought it was kind-of cute! The entrance has a flat area if you want to relax or have a picnic. Once down the stairs, you come to a small flat area where you can sit or go into the stream (Quebrada Cintrona).
You will see a small waterfall upstream, and downstream there is a nice little pool. To get to the pool you need to walk on the rocks. We went down there, it is lovely. From that point we could see more little waterfalls and pools down below. We didn’t venture further downstream, but it might be a fun adventure for those who want to do some rock-scrambling.
Not a must visit place, but it is easy to get to and the water is pretty. If you visit, please keep it clean!
